The “Mutex” Universal Testing Machine provides an economical solution to determine tensile, compression, shear strength, and elongation of various materials such as rubber, leather, fabric, plastics, belts, wires, and medical items. It works on the constant rate of traverse principle, where one end of the specimen is held stationary while the other moves at a controlled speed using motor, gearboxes, and dual screw arrangement. Load is sensed by a load cell and displayed digitally with graphs.
The microprocessor-based controller offers overload protection, peak hold, auto calibration, and stops the machine when the sample breaks. Load can be displayed in kilograms or Newton. Windows-based software records all measurement parameters and graphs between load vs elongation or stress vs strain, stores data, calculates yield, tensile and compression strength, and generates printable reports.
Elongation is measured with a digital indicator fixed on the tester frame. Variable speed models allow adjustments via control panel or computer monitor. Built-in safety features include over-travel protection. Finished with powder coating and bright chrome/zinc plating, electrical components include micro switches, push buttons, and contactors. Optional grips for different materials are available.
